liminal imagery ... fine art photography by Dan Jahn
How limited is JE250?
The full edition is 250 prints of varying sizes.

How should I care for my art print?
Keep your print out of direct sunlight and away from unusually hot cold or damp conditions. All Jahn Edition 250 inkjets have been specifically developed to achieve the highest possible archival quality by means of archival, acid-free papers and archival inks, and a special protective coating over the final print.

How should I display my JE250 print?
I recommend a white acid-free matt, at least 3 inches (8cm) all around the print, with an extra 20% at the bottom. Some people like to show the edges of the print and embossed logo. Others choose to have the matt right up to the image itself. I prefer to use distressed ebony stained walnut wood frames for my exhibition prints.

What are artist's proofs (AP)?
When a photographer/ art-director/artist releases a new image as a limited edition print, test prints are made, often in different sizes or on different types of paper before an edition is created. These pre-edition prints are known as Artist Proofs (AP) or in some cases, Printer’s Proofs (PP).  Sometimes an AP is made for a special reason i.e. for a charity auction.

How many AP’s are made?
An AP is approximately 10% of an edition i.e. if an edition is 50 there is likely to be 5 artist proofs and so on. When I publish a new image, once the edition is sold out, these numbered or un-numbered Artist Proofs are sold for an end-of-edition price.

Why is a JE250 edition special?
These are true editions. Here is why: Some photographers make editions in various sizes using the same image. For example a well-known image by a  well-known photographer may start out as an edition of 50 20”x16” fiber prints numbered 1-50, but when the edition starts to sell out, more of the same image are made but at a different size, e.g. 50 x 20”x24” fiber prints. These will also be numbered 1-50 when in fact the fiber edition is now up to 100. Add to that open edition prints that are not numbered, and the true edition may be several hundred. In the Fine Art world most artists and their galleries restrict the image itself to editions of anything from 5-200 in total which includes all sizes and formats. Jahn Edition 250 works on this basis with all my editions.

What is a giclée/fine-art inkjet print?
The breakthrough in archival inkjet printing technology is one of the great revolutions in photography. A digital file is sent from the computer to the printer which sprays a stream of very fine, virtually invisible, ink droplets directly onto specially coated art papers. In the USA these are also known as 'Giclée' prints. Jahn Edition 250 C size inkjet prints are museum-wuality, made on Legion paper using archival inks (or equivalent). Current data predicts these to have an archival life of 150 years or more in ideal conditions.
Jahn Edition 250 - Photographic Prints
These are archival ink Giclée prints of images created on 245gsm high quality acid-free, lignin-free, archival and museum quality fiber-based paper, allowing the images to be reproduced with astounding tonal range and color depth. Prints are a limited edition of 250, available in two sizes: 13”x19” ($275), or 17"x22" ($475). JE 250 is printed, supervised and logged in-house by me, Dan Jahn, and numbered, embossed and signed.
